PharmaTrain Courses
The four IMI Education and Training projects (EMTRAIN, PharmaTrain, SafeSciMET and Eu2P have convened a Cross Project Task Force on Course Quality led by Heinrich Klech from the Vienna School of Clinical Research, Vienna, Austria.
The projects have agreed on a joint understanding and recommends a set of principles and criteria to develop a framework for quality assessment of the courses in December 2010, which are listed below.
In addition to these quality criteria the PharmaTrain Diploma (Base) Courses and Master Programmes are following the process of “Implementation of Shared Standards” to achieve the additional criteria for a “PharmaTrain Course”
The “Cross Project Quality Criteria” are as follows:
A formalised and transparent QA/QC policy that includes the following:

University accreditation OR a suitable system for approving, monitoring and reviewing the training offered. |
| 2. |
A system for quality assurance of teaching staff. |
| 3. |
Regular review of the QA/QC process and demonstration that the training is further developed in light of this review. A set of documented criteria for individual modules, courses or course programmes that include the following: |

Defined and transparent admission criteria. |
| 5. |
A predefined set of teaching objectives, leading to defined learning outcomes. |
| 6. |
The facilities, infrastructure, leadership and competences available for the support of student learning should be adequate, appropriate and up to date for the training offered. |
| 7. | Assessment of the students' achievement in accordance with the agreed learning outcomes of the training offered. |
| 8. | A system for collecting, assessing and addressing feedback from learners, teachers, technical/administrative staff and programme/course/module managers. |
| 9. | Adequate reference material |
In brief our set of quality criteria is based on the following principles:

Trainees are supported to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills |
| b. | Course structures encourage exchange and multidisciplinarity |
| c. | Facilities, infrastructure, leadership and competences adequate to deliver the approved curriculum |
| d. | Equality principles |
| e. | Teaching methods appropriate to the goals of the course |
| f. | Transparency regarding potential conflicts of interest |
