COPD medications |
|
All the currently available pharmacological treatments of COPD do not modify the
long-term decline in lung functions, which is the distinctive feature of the disease;
therefore, they are just used as symptomatic medications in order to prevent and
control symptoms and exacerbations, to improve quality of life and exercise
tolerance. COPD medications can be basically divided into two main categories:
- Bronchodilators
- Inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs)
